In 2018, I published the "Christmas Ornament Hat" pattern. It was the first one I made after my daughter arrived. With a newborn, I didn't have the time or focus to create a complex pattern. A mini version of the Rustik hat seemed ideal under the circumstances. Plus, I wouldn't have to ship anything since I wasn't selling the yarn (it's from Dollarama!).

I didn't have high expectations for this quick pattern, but it was a real success! They are perfect for putting on the Christmas tree, but also for decorating gift packages.
Two years later, I'm doing it again with the trio formula: the toque (which is the same as in 2018), the mitten and the socks. I sell them individually, but also as a combo.

These are patterns for intermediate beginners, and the advantage is that the gauge isn't that important, unlike with real accessories. If you make it smaller or larger, it will work.
I recommend using the "mini yarn" available at Dollarama, or any other size 2 (fine) yarn. For $4, you get 10-gram balls, which is very convenient for making several color combinations. However, it's not a very high-quality yarn, but for the purpose of an embellishment, it does the job. You'll also need a 3.75 mm crochet hook, a stitch marker, and a yarn needle.
For the pom-pom on the toque, I used the Clover pom-pom maker. You can see how to use it in this YouTube video. Afterwards, I brushed it with a cat brush to give it a furry effect.
This is my first crocheted sock pattern. I really enjoyed making it and I'm feeling ready for the "real foot-hugging version." To be continued…
