With my daughter Gaëlle inspiring me with new patterns, I had no choice but to crochet her a little cardigan. Apart from the junior Greenland cardigan she has in her wardrobe, she doesn't own any similar pieces.

I started my tests with doll sizes to see which shape worked best and to do my calculations. Success! I got to work on the Cardigan for my little one. At first, I thought I'd make 2-3 sizes. Surprise! I was able to make 7 sizes: newborn, 3-6 months, 1-2 years, 3-4 years, 5-6 years, 7-8 years, and 9-10 years.

The Kardigan is made with Heartland yarn from Lion Brand . It's a very soft, size 4 yarn. You can also use Red Heart Soft, which is a similar yarn. You'll also need a 4 mm crochet hook (or the equivalent size to achieve the correct gauge), as well as 25 mm buttons.

This is an intermediate-level pattern worked primarily in double crochet with one strand of yarn. However, it's possible for a beginner to complete this project. If you're less comfortable reading patterns, I recommend choosing the video version.

Of all the patterns I've made, this one required the most calculations (let's just say it has more steps than a toque)! And I absolutely love the result. I plan to make the adult version sometime in winter 2021.

So, is this a project that interests you?
